Short answer: in Dubai, daily broad-spectrum sunscreen, barrier-supporting moisturiser and gentle exfoliation matter more than complicated routines.

The three stressors

  • UV index: very high for most of the year, driving pigmentation and premature ageing.
  • Heat and humidity: increase sweat and oil, which can worsen congestion.
  • Air conditioning: dries the air indoors and weakens the skin barrier.

A simple routine

  • Morning: gentle cleanser, antioxidant serum, moisturiser, SPF 30–50.
  • Evening: cleanse, treatment active (as advised), barrier moisturiser.
  • Weekly: gentle exfoliation; avoid over-scrubbing.

When to see a doctor

See a dermatologist for new or changing moles, persistent redness, melasma or acne that is not controlled with over-the-counter products.

Frequently asked questions

  • If you spend time near windows or travel between buildings, daily broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 is still recommended, as UVA passes through glass.
